I joined Independent Lives in 2004 after starting my career supporting disabled children and adults in community settings. Following this I worked in Hounslow, West London, first supporting the conversion of a sheltered employment institute into a centre offering a better range of life options for local people. I then went on to support people into paid employment through the New Deal for Disabled People.
My current role as Interim Chief Executive gives me the ability to work with disabled people to develop and improve services and to create strategies to increase all citizens’ access to choice, control and to live independent lives. During my time at Independent Lives I achieved a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management.

My work has always centred around supporting individuals with disabilities or complex health care needs. I first joined Independent Lives in 2005 and have worked in a variety of roles here including Personal Health Budget Lead, Integrated Services Manager and now Interim Director of Services. My main passion is working in joint partnership with local authorities, NHS, individuals and communities to ensure everyone with a disability has the opportunity to achieve what is important to and for them and have the right support to do so. I have a level 5 diploma in leadership and management and attended Cambridge University social venture business school.

I joined Independent Lives in May 2011. Before that, I worked in the Audit and Assurance department of a local accountancy practice, where I began my studies as an accountant after finishing college. During my time there I developed a special interest in charity accounts and charitable governance. I have already gained the Certified Accounting Technician Qualification and am currently studying towards the final level of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Qualification as well as the CMI (Chartered Management Institute) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management.

I joined Independent Lives in 2016, having previously worked in a publishing and events company specialising in health and social care. Over the last 17 years, I've worked across media, publishing, arts, tourism, and social care, in a range of marketing and business operations roles.

I joined Independent Lives as Connecting Volunteers Coordinator in August 2015 following a long career in the public and charity sectors. I worked in many varied roles over the years as a business development manager, project manager, trainer, decision maker and advocate, all in disability related posts.
I am passionate about supporting individual disabled people to become volunteers and I have enabled many people and organisations to overcome the barriers to volunteering. Independent Lives offers accessible, inclusive volunteering opportunities. If you want to find out more please contact me!

I joined Independent Lives in 2010, before that I worked as a Reception Manager in a local GP Surgery and this is when I became more aware of the social model of disability, not just the medical model. I have always had a passion for supporting people and strongly believe that everyone should have choice and control to live a fulfilling, independent life.
My current role of Workforce Development Officer involves developing the Personal Assistant (PA) and Care Support Worker workforce so people have top quality care and support to enable them to live independently.

I joined Independent Lives in October 2010 as an administrative assistant for the DP Team. I moved over to Lend a Hand as Care Coordinator in 2012 and am now the Deputy Care Manager of the service. Before joining Independent Lives, I worked in childcare as an early years practitioner before deciding I wanted a change in career but still within the health and social care sector.
I have always had a keen interest in health and social care and since working at Independent Lives I have gained a wealth of knowledge around the different ways that as an organisation we can support and promote independence in the disabled community. I really enjoy looking at and developing innovative ways to further support disabled people as well as promoting and celebrating the careers of support workers and care assistants.
