Summary

I am looking for a personal assistant/support worker to support me with my social care.

I am a 17 year old male with Asperger syndrome, GAD and OCD.

I live in a residential school and on weekends and school holidays I am with my parents

Your main duties will include becoming my buddy and to support me I external leisure activities such as cycling, bowling, trips to coast, visits to London attractions etc.

You will need to be confident in dealing with autism and ensuring my safety. 

Previous experience of supporting adults and young people with autism would be preferable.

Fitness and good communication skills are a must

Previous experience as a Support Worker would be an advantage

You must have a valid, clean driving licence and be willing to drive me in your car

 

Hours/Shifts

An average of 6 hours weekly for thirteen weeks, school holidays only. 

Other Requirements

Must have a UK driving licence

Must have access to own vehicle

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

 

Description

Nature of the work:

To provide companionship and be willing to drive me to social activities. This will be in the school holidays only. 

Typical duties

Social:          

Driving and accompanying to social events such as:

Cinema

Accompanying on trips out eg to the garden centre, beach, cinema, craft fairs, local visits, out shopping for fun, attending social events.

The above duties will involve driving the employer in the PA’s car, 

Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with craft activities

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
