Summary

Female Flexible Care Support Worker/ Personal Assistants needed to join our team at home in Cowfold village (near Horsham)

Starting the 1st of November

I am a young lady aged 28 with a highly active life. I have severe epilepsy but this does not stop me from doing all the things I love in life. My passions are horse riding, cooking, gym, drawing, painting, food (which I am trying to be very good with, I have sweet tooth), music, dancing, films, being with my cats. 

I live with my family, my mum, younger sister and 2 cats.

 

 

Hours/Shifts

Tuesday and Friday 4- 10.30 pm

Wednesday 8.30am-4.30pm

Thursday 8.30-6pm  

 

Other Requirements

Must be comfortable with pets- cats

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

I have boyfriend called Chris, who I see regularly, we have been dating for a couple of years.  

Nature of the work:




 Care support worker will support Helen with life skills, supporting her to cook her evening meal, supporting with personal care and evening activities. Monitoring her also for seizures. 

·    Supporting at household and in community.

Typical duties

Domestic -    

Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away

Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.

Making breakfast in the morning


Personal Care:

Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required

Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required

Assistance with applying cream

Using the toilet 

Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings

Assistance with getting out of bed 

Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets

Helen’s emergency medication is rectal diazepam, so staff will need to be trained and feel comfortable and confident administering this. Rectal diazepan is the only emergency medication that works on Helen.

     

 

Person specification

The successful applicant with preferable have experience of working with someone with epilepsy, but if we feel that your personality shines through and you are willing to learn then we would consider someone without. The successful applicant will be passionate about being a personal assistant. Be friendly, bubbly and down to earth and enjoy the job. To have a giggle with Helen and to make sure she is kept safe at all times and to help her to lead a fulfilling life.

You will:

Be willing to have a DBS check (formerly CRB) prior to starting the role

Have a driving licence and car or willing to drive the family car

Be able to treat all aspects of your role with confidentiality

Need to genuinely care about independent living and Helen’s right to have a full an exciting life

Be able to work well with other members of the family and take instructions
