Summary

I am an outgoing woman in my fifties with a disability living in my own home. I like swimming, carriage driving, lace making and painting. I enjoy going to social clubs and eating out.

It is important to me that my views and opinions are taken into account, and that I am encouraged to maintain as much independence and choice & control in my life as possible.

There will be times when the employer and her staff will need to contact you. This may be outside normal working hours, including bank holidays, evenings & weekends, in the event of sudden staff sickness or emergency situations. These instances will be added to time sheet at a minimum rate of 15 mins per call. The employee is required to keep records on an ‘on call’ sheet. 

The employer accepts that you will not always be contactable or in a position to assist and will have a designated back up.

 

Hours/Shifts

Maximum of 12 hours a week to be used flexibly.

Must have a UK driving licence

Must have access to own vehicle- To drive an adapted vehicle

To provide administration, financial and practical support, including personal care, to the disabled employer in accordance with employment law and good practice.

 The main duties are to help the employer to manage her care staff/ team and daily tasks, inclusive of managing the working environment, health & safety & fire safety procedures. Some help outside of the home may be required on occasions.  

Typical duties

ROLE SUMMARY :

To provide administration, financial and practical support, including personal care, to the disabled employer in accordance with employment law and good practice. 

The main duties are to help the employer to manage her care staff/ team and daily tasks, inclusive of managing the working environment, health & safety & fire safety procedures. Some help outside of the home may be required on occasions. 

KEY TASKS :

1.To meet regularly with the employer to keep her care arrangements under review (generally once a week or more if special circumstances occur)

2.(a) To support the employer to oversee the training and management of her staff.   

(b)  To be the line manager of all the staff, providing regular supervision and support. Helping the employer deal with staff queries and resolve issues 

3.To organise care rotas ensuring care staff are aware of their work timetable approximately 4 weeks in advance. 

(Copies of which will need to be accessible from the employer’s computer in a suitable format for the employers eyesight needs)

4.To be responsible for arranging cover for care staff when they are on holiday/absent.

5.To arrange staff training and certification when needed or where statutory requirement is observed eg...fire safety equipment, oxygen use, health & safety, custom vehicle operation etc...

6.Assist the employer with staff risk assessments and follow up on actions from these.

7.Ensure staff paperwork is completed correctly and up to date e.g. time sheets & ensure that employment records are kept up to date and accurate.

8.Assist with the recruitment & induction of new staff member including applying for references, short listing & interviewing to ensure suitability for the role

9.Ensure all new staff are aware of the employers care plan and that this is signed off as read and followed.

10.To liaise with other agencies involved in provision of care or support to the employer e.g. G.P., hospital appointments, social worker, Thalidomide Trust.

11.On occasion, if needed, drive employer in her own vehicle to attend  appointments.

12.Assist employer with administration tasks ie...  dealing with correspondence e.g. reading letters aloud, writing replies and form filling.

13.Help with keeping a diary and making appointments (sometimes attending arranged appointments (health related or otherwise) with employer, as and when needed)

14.To support employer with financial tasks including money management, overseeing budgets, payroll administration, staff floats, petty cash etc...

15.To monitor employer’s bank statements to ensure that the cost of monthly care falls within the available budget/ funds

16.To attend any meetings, training courses and supervision sessions as required and take notes.

17.To observe strict and complete confidentiality regarding information obtained during the course of duties.

18.To ensure good working relationships with colleagues.

19.Any other duties commensurate with the post
