34 year old
able bodied man with Asperger’s Syndrome living in his own apartment is looking
to employ one or two people to assist him with general day to day tasks.
Much of the support will be to encourage the client to learn daily living skills, social skills and maintain general wellbeing required to become more independent and confident.
Activities will include support with socialising and accessing the local community.
This could be a very exciting rewarding role for the right person.

A working knowledge of Autism/ Asperger’s Syndrome/working with people on the autistic spectrum preferred
Job share considered
18.5 hours per week in total – shared between two PA’s
Mainly afternoons and evenings
Exact days and times
to be agreed with employer on a weekly basis.
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
Work together with the client to establish a training routine so they become fully capable of tasks such as
Support with achieving objectives
To be able to manage budgeting and dealing with written correspondence
Become independent with general household tasks
To plan and shop for weekly needs
Develop cooking skills to increase nutrition intake
To become proficient in using all kitchen appliances
Encouragement to complete personal care routines
To cope with unexpected changes in routine
Prompting to take medication as prescribed
Support to contact Mental Health services as necessary
To work towards establishing a structured day time and nigh time sleep pattern
You will assist the client:
Support to cope with anxiety
To make and maintain friendships via social groups and internet sites
To maintain a good relationship with parents
To participate in leisure and social activities of choice.
To obtain voluntary or paid employment
Support to attend appointments
The successful applicant will be:
MUST have proven experience in providing support with the job requirements.
Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
Reliable with good time-keeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Honest and cheerful
Able to build up a good rapport and basis of trust with employer
Positive and patient attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Prior experience of working with Autistic Adults or Adults with Asperger’s Syndrome an advantage but not as essential as a motivating and common sense approach to the role.
