Job Title: 2x Personal Assistant/support Worker

Hours/shifts: 2.5 hours a week term time and 5 hours a weeks in school holidays for 2 PAs working 2:1

• I am a mother to my 13 year old son who uses a wheelchair and is non verbal but can be very vocal at times. He is a happy boy and loves swimming, the sensory room and being outdoors.
• Our first language at home is Portuguese but my son although non verbal responds to both English and Portuguese.
• I am looking for kind and calm PAs to engage with son in my home and in the local community in activities he enjoys supervising him at all times.
• He requires 2:1 care therefore you will always be working with either a member of my family or another PA.
• The work may involve taking my son on outings/activities in a car, for which mileage will be paid.
• This is a rewarding role with all professional training provided.
• I have epilepsy and require you to have had training

Other Requirements

• Must be comfortable with pets
• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.

Typical duties

Personal Care: 
• Nappy changing as required.
• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings.
• Assistance with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting my son to get changed in swimming pool/gym.
• Assistance with getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
• Assistance at mealtimes e.g. cutting up food and prompting me to eat

• Accompanying my son on trips out in the local community engaging him in activities he enjoys including swimming and keeping him safe.
• The above duties may involve driving my son in the PA’s car, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing me when out.
• Whilst on duty in my home watching TV, playing with my son and keeping him occupied.

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
