Job Title: 2x Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker

Hours/shifts: Up to 7.5 hours per week Monday – Friday shifts average 1 hour per day plus one longer 2.5 hour shift per week by mutual arrangement.
•  I am man in my 50’s living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and an acquired brain injury (ABI). I have slurred speech, mobility issues and severe on-going pain that is managed with medication. Sometimes it’s difficult for me to put sentences together. 
• I require two experienced PAs to work together on shift supporting me with daily living tasks including personal care, managing finances and accessing the community.
• Support with behaviour management such as help with emotional needs and anger management will be required.
Other Requirements 
• Must be comfortable with pets 
• Previous experience of working with people with ABIs is essential.
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
Typical duties
Domestic -        
• Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
• Helping with laundry, washing and drying
• Loading and unloading the washing machine
• Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
• Changing bed linen
• Bed making
• General cleaning
• Taking out rubbish
• General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
• Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing
• Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
• Shopping
• Maintenance of small garden, perhaps half an hour a week
• Assist with grooming cats (training provided) – employer would help
• Tidying
• Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork
• Making phone calls on my behalf when I am too unwell to do this
• Making tea for the employer's guests
Personal Care:  
• Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
• Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
• Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
• To be on call when employer takes bath
• Assistance with applying cream
• General hair/skin care
• Using the toilet
• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
• Help with dispensing tablets 
• Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required
• Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
• Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities,
• Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required
• Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.
• Accompanying on trips out e.g. to the library, the vet
• Driving and accompanying to social events such as:
• Cinema
• Church
• The above duties may involve driving the employer in the PA’s car, lifting the folding walker in/out of car.
