Free First Aid training is now available for Personal Assistants who work with adults in East and West Sussex, and Hampshire.

If you are an employer: We can also cover the cost of a Personal Assistant to work for you whilst your Personal Assistant is taking part in the training.

This training session will provide a thorough overview of basic first aid, and as well as demonstrations, there will be opportunities to join in and practise. The free training is available in West Sussex, Hampshire and East Sussex.

The course will run for approximately four and a half hours where Personal Assistants will learn the following:

  • First Aid legislation
  • The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
  • How to assess an incident
  • Requirements of the First Aid box
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Recovery position
  • Choking
  • Burns and scalds
  • Control of bleeding
  • Dealing with shock
  • Care of the unconscious

This funding is unable to support:

  • clinical or other training required by personal health budget (PHB) holders.
  • training required by personal assistants working with children (those under the age of 18).
