I joined Independent Lives back in 2005 and was employed to lead on the Care Alternatives project. This involved working with our Direct Payment customers looking at alternative ways to engage the services of Personal Assistants, making it easier to arrange cover and recruit. This led to the development of what is now our PA Pages service and the creation of a new care service.

My daughter was diagnosed with autism in 2004 and has a Direct Payment which is what prompted me to look for work where I could apply whatever skills I developed in my varied ‘career’ to supporting others with disabilities. I immediately felt at home working for Independent Lives, and its positive ethos and values, and I am still 100% passionate about everything we do in this amazing organisation.

My job now as Head of Business Development and Improvement enables me to access funding and contracts which help us to continue meeting our charitable objectives and to provide top quality support.
