Hourly rate: £9.20 day rate/ £10.70 weekend rate (Bank staff will be paid these rates plus 12.07% per hour in lieu of holiday entitlement)

Summary:

I am a 55-year-old male with Cerebral Palsy who lives with my wife in central Bognor. We are looking to expand our team of Personal Assistants.
I am a friendly person who enjoys going out. I will need support both at home and out in the community.
Experience in care ideal, but not essential as training will be provided. Also, someone who holds a full UK driving license preferred but again not essential – we have our own vehicle we would like you to drive.
Other Requirements
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Description

Typical duties
Domestic -

Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
Helping with laundry, washing and drying
Loading and unloading the washing machine
Loading and unloading washing line
Bed making
General cleaning
Taking out rubbish
General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Shopping
Tidying
Making tea for the employer's guests

Personal Care:
• Washing and showering – towelling dry
• Supervision and assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
• Help getting into and out of shower
• Assistance with applying cream
• General hair/skin care
• Using the toilet
• Dressing and undressing
• Getting into bed
• Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist
• Help with dispensing tablets
• Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required
• Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
• Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food and feeding

Social:
• Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
• Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities
• Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required
• Occasional longer journeys
• Accompanying on trips out e.g. bingo, horse racing, restaurants
• Driving and accompanying to social events such as:
Cinema, Theatre/Circus Shows, Horse Racing/Casino
• The above duties will involve driving the employer in the PA’s car, using the vehicle lift and ensuring straps are on correctly etc – training provided.
• Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with craft activities

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
