Care Assistant/ Support Worker/Personal Care SB1212 Location: Basingstoke / Hourly rate: £8.60 / Reference: SB1212 Summary Carer/ personal assistant for a lovely young boy aged 6 with complex needs who attends a special school. We are a young family with two children aged 6 and two years. We need help in the family home to carry out the morning and evening routines and a looking for a patient and kind female who has a good knowledge and possible experience of working with children with complex needs. The applicant must be willing to work with and support the family. Hours/Shifts 1 hour twice a day morning and evening Other Requirements "Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9." Must have a UK driving licence Must have access to own vehicle All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Nature of the work: To help in the family home with getting our son ready for school in the morning and ready for bed in the evening. Typical duties Personal Care: Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required Using the toilet Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings Getting into bed Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist Help with dispensing tablets Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat Social: Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required Person specification The successful applicant will be: Female due to personal care needs Reliable with good time-keeping Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills Honest and cheerful Creative Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
