Become a C(E)TR panel member
We recruit and support a diverse panel of people to carry out Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews. Our panel members bring clinical expertise, professional knowledge, and lived experience to help improve the care and support that people receive.
Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews rely on a skilled and diverse panel of people who are committed to improving the lives of autistic people and people with learning disabilities.
If you are passionate about ensuring people receive the right care and support, we would love to hear from you.
The panel member roles
Each review panel is made up of three roles:
- Chair - The Chair plans and runs the review. They make sure the right people are there, the person being reviewed understands what is happening and agrees to it, and that everything decided on the day is written up and acted on.
- Independent Clinical Expert - The Independent Clinical Expert is a health professional who is not connected to the service being reviewed. They look at the care and support the person is getting, check it is good quality, and suggest ways it could be better.
- Independent Expert by Experience - The Independent Expert by Experience is an autistic person, a person with a learning disability, or a family member with their own experience of these services. They make sure the person's voice is heard and that what matters to them shapes the review.
What does the role involve?
As a panel member you will visit the place where the person is being supported, either in hospital or in the community, and meet with them and their family to hear about their experiences and hopes for the future. You will also speak with professionals involved in their care, review relevant records, and work with your panel to identify what is working well and where improvements can be made.
You would typically need to be available for one or two full-day reviews per month, with some travel and preparation time required before and after each review.
What support will I receive?
All new panel members receive a full induction, the opportunity to shadow an experienced panel member, and ongoing access to training, peer support and a dedicated staff team.
Panel members receive a fee and expenses for their time.
