Our beloved mum is the head of our close-knit family. We are looking for a carer to join us as an extension of our family in helping our mum get value in each day. This is a valued and rewarding role where care and kindness are at the heart.

Our mum loved entertaining, cooking, reading extensively, socialising and travelling. She loves to chat about these times with fondness and enthusiasm so someone who shares similar interests would fit right in!

You will work alongside our current carer, initially, to learn the tasks required. Training courses with certificates of achievement are available.

This is an official employment with an employment contract and paid holiday provided. There is free parking and is well accessed by public transport.

Description
Typical duties

Domestic
Laundry – loading/unloading of washing machine, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
Changing bed linen
Bed making
General cleaning, tidying
Taking out rubbish
General housework including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Cooking and preparing meals, drinks, snacks (ideally Asian foods)
Shopping
Keeping garden tidy and plants watered.

Personal Care:
Dressing and undressing, helping with buttons and fastenings if necessary.
Assistance with washing and showering – towelling-dry hair
Assistance with applying cream
Assistance with general hair/skin/nail/oral care
Getting into/out of bed, if necessary.
Assistance with using the toilet and changing of continence aids
Assistance with medication i.e. making up weekly dosset box of medication and supervising taking of tablets
Mealtimes e.g. warming food in microwave, cutting up food as required
Supervising fluid intake.


Social:

Accompany to the day centre when needed.
Provide social stimulation through conversation
Helping with limited amount of exercise.

The successful applicant will be:
• Female due to personal care needs

• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Honest and cheerful
• Creative
• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work to high standards of Health and Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
