Job Title: Carer/Personal Assistant

Location: Crawley, West Sussex

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time 12 hours minimum

Hourly rate: £9.00 per hour increasing after probationary period

Must be flexible and reliable as shift patterns and working days may change depending on employers requirements, however usual working days are as stated below:

Tuesday: 17:00pm-19:00pm

Sundays: Starting/finishing time vary from 08:00am-20:00pm


Extra hours are available when other PAs are unable to attend work due to sickness or annual leave.



Supporting employer in their own home, ensuring they receive excellent care.

I require an experienced individual who has worked previously with disabled children or adults, who is reliable and flexible, to help assist my 17 year old son who has hydrocephalus and epilepsy.




Looking for a calm individual to join our small team. The individual must be able to work under pressure, be willing to be flexible and able to adapt to change. Must be reliable and committed to role with a caring, patient and supporting attitude.


  • To assist getting my son in the morning and evenings, including dressing/underdressing, washing and changing his nappy as he is unable to go to the toilet himself nor shower himself.
  • To help with their physical mobility including assisting him with his Stander, Walker and during the school breaks must be willing to swim with my son and myself to help assist.
  • Morning/Lunch and Evening Medication must be given (depending on shift pattern)
  • Companionship
  • Preparing and giving breakfast/lunch and dinner (depending on shift pattern)
  • Ironing my sons clothes on occasion
  • Washing dishes which were used throughout the day.

Other Requirements:

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Typical duties

Domestic :  

  • Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
  • Helping with laundry, washing and drying
  • Loading and unloading the washing machine
  • Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
  • Changing bed linen
  • Bed making
  • General cleaning
  • Taking out nappies
  • Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
  • Tidying before leaving shift


Personal Care: 

  • General hair/skin care
  • Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
  • Getting in and out of bed
  • Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist
  • Assistance with medication
  • Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed at swimming pool.
  • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
  • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
  • Washing and bathing/showering – toweling dry/drying hair/brushing teeth
  • Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
  • Physio/hydrotherapy exercises including activities such as stretches and swimming


  • Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including swimming, park walks
  • Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required
  • Occasional longer journeys
  • Accompanying on trips out  
  • Accompanying to social events such as cinema, springboard, and swimming
  • Accompanying to social meetings e.g. friends, family
  • The above duties will involve assisting the employee in the mothers car, pushing wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out. 
  • Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with activities
