Carers Respite

Activities for older people, people with support needs and people with dementia that live in the Adur area.

We understand that time is precious, even more so when you are caring for someone who has dementia, or are elderly and frail.  We recognise the importance of getting some time for you to rest and recuperate

Our aim at Independent Lives is to support you in your caring role and give you the time and space to be yourself. We provide various activities from day outings, community based sessions, one to one support for the person you care for to a Carers Bubble where Carers like you have some space to get together whether it is in person or via online meetings..

Our trained staff and volunteers will work with you and the person you care for to put together a programme of activities that suit both you and the person you care for needs and interests.

We understand that at this time you might be anxious going out and understand your need to be cautious. We keep numbers low and follow a Covid-19 risk assessment. All staff wear a face mask and have had training to ensure that the activity is as safe as possible.

So, what do we provide?

Outings - Monday, Tuesday and Friday

We are providing 2 sessions (morning and afternoon) 3 times a week on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday. We pick up the person you care for from home and visit the local area, refreshments are included. The cost is £39 per session

One to One Support – days to be agreed

We are able to provide support on an individual basis to support the person you care for to pursue specific interests or access the community, or any other ideas you may have. The cost is £20 an hour

Carers Bubble – quarterly

A quarterly meeting where you as a carer can get together with other carers to have a cup of tea and a chat

Lockdown calls

If we are unable to provide the outings due to Government guidance we are able to provide some social lockdown calls. The staff can sit with the person you care for whilst you go and or do some shopping etc. Recently we have done some gardening, craft activities and had a walk around the local park. The cost is £20 per hour
