Young married couple looking to employ a Personal assistant(s) to cover holiday and sickness, so they can remain independent in their own home.

Tasks will involve personal care, preparing meals, general domestic tasks including help with shopping and assisting to access the local community.


Cover needed for holiday & sickness

Holiday cover required.

Hours are flexible please apply if you can do any of the hours or provide cover.

Other Requirements

UK driving licence preferable

Access to own vehicle preferable

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


About the employer:

We are a married couple with disabilities.

We are both wheelchair bound.  We are friendly and approachable 

Nature of the work:

We require assistance over lunchtime to prepare our meals & feed us. 

We require assistance with everyday living tasks, therefore you may be asked to do some light housework, shopping or personal care 

Typical duties

Domestic -    

  • Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
  • Changing bed linen
  • Bed making
  • General cleaning
  • Taking out rubbish – separating rubbish & recycling
  • Light housework which may include cleaning, dusting and vacuuming. 
  • Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing occasionally.
  • Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
  • Shopping
  • Tidying
  • Any other reasonable tasks

Personal Care:

  • Ocassional Hoisting 
  • Assistance with using the toilet on occasions
  • Assistance with dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings on occasions
  • Assistance with getting in & out of bed using a hoist or onto the shower chair or toilet on occasions
  • Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets
  • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') 
  • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
  • Physiotherapy exercises
  • Any other reasonable task

Community Living tasks:

  • Accompanying and assisting employers on shopping trips when required
  • Accompany employers when accessing social and leisure activities, such as going to a restaurant for lunch
  • Accompanying employers to doctors/hospital appointments when required, transferring onto dentist’s chair
  • Accompanying and assisting employers on occasional longer journeys eg to visit family members
  • Pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out.  
  • Any other reasonable task

The successful applicant will be:

  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
  • Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
