I have a 16 year old daughter diagnosed with Down’s syndrome and am looking for a committed domestic personal assistant to help support me in my home.  The work will involve general tidying and cleaning. The right person will be reliable, organised, hygienic and tidy-minded.  Previous experience preferred. Preferred to have a previous up to date DBS check.

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. 


Typical duties

Domestic -    

  • Regular general cleaning
  • Vacuuming, dusting
  • Washing floors
  • Cleaning the bathroom
  • Laundry, hanging washing out to dry, ironing and putting away
  • Changing bed linen
  • Bed making
  • Taking out rubbish
  • Occasional minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs 
  • Occasionally preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
  • Washing and drying dishes
  • Putting away shopping and keeping kitchen cupboards tidy
  • Cleaning windows
  • General tidying
  • Descaling kettles, iron, bathroom taps and fittings/toilet occasionally
  • Wiping inside and out fridge/freezer and washing machine occasionally
  • Cleaning cooker
  • Any other reasonable domestic chores/ household tasks

The successful applicant will be: 

  • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality

  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
  • DBS issued within the last 3 months preferred but not essential
