I am looking for carers who are kind, patient, understanding and prepared to work to a high standard to ensure my wife, who has dementia, receives the excellent care she deserves.  In return, you will find this a rewarding and fulfilling position within our family home. 

My wife requires 24 hour care, is fully reliant on her wheelchair which has a specially moulded seat, is fed through a gastrostomy and also requires suction at times.  All training will be provided. 


Saturday and Sunday 7am to 7pm

Ideally looking to split position between two carers

Flexibility to cover holiday/sickness an advantage

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. 


Nature of the work:

  • Personal care (including pad changes, washing, administering creams and dressing)
  • Hoist transfers to and from bed and wheelchair
  • Gastrostomy care – setting up feed, flushing etc
  • Administering medication and completing record sheet
  • Suction as required
  • Domestic duties – washing, ironing, light housework
  • Going for walks into town/locality (requires carer to push wheelchair)
  • Female due to nature of work 

Typical duties

Domestic -    

  • Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
  • Changing bed linen
  • Bed making
  • General cleaning
  • Taking out rubbish
  • General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming. 
  • Tidying

Personal Care:

  • Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair with hairdryer
  • Full continence care (including changing pads)
  • Choosing nice clothes and dressing
  • General hair/skin care
  • Applying creams as required
  • Assistance with getting out of bed/wheelchair using a hoist
  • Administering medication
  • Giving feed via feeding pump/flushing via gastrostomy 


  • Going for short walks (using wheelchair) either into town or around the locality

Person specification

The successful applicant will be:

  • Female due to personal care needs  
  • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good time-keeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
  • Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
