Hours/shifts: 6-8 hours per week (6 hours term time, 8 hours school holidays.) cover of holiday hours
Summary

The work will be with a friendly family. The employer will be mum and you will be working with her teenage daughter who has Wolfram Syndrome and a Tracheostomy. Normally based within the home environment.
The young lady can be shy at first until she gets to know you. Due to deterioration of sight, things need to be kept in their place and routines followed.
Your role will be to support the young lady by monitoring O2 Sats, suctioning when required, working with a Bi-PAP ventilator during the night, and to support the young lady by suctioning when required, Trachy care and Personal care. Your shifts will be worked as day shifts being either morning or afternoons depending on college timetable during term time and you will report any problems to the parents. The young lady has Type 1 Diabetes which is normally well controlled, however on rare occasions she may have a hypo and require blood tests and the appropriate action taken. Comfort the young lady should she have a diabetic hypo. All training will be given and you must be prepared to attend training courses as required. We have 2 cats and a dog in the household
Available to start from mid – end of June. 5.6 weeks paid holiday. Days to work will be variable & won’t be set until September when school timetable is given out. Use of own car with relevant insurance preferable.

• Must be comfortable with pets
• Must have a UK driving licence
• Must have access to own vehicle

Typical duties
Domestic - 
Putting any wet clothes in washing machine if at home or on return home.


Personal Care: 
Helping to change incontinence pads
personal hygiene

Administering medication when required.

Social: 
• Take out on trips locally, shopping, to any activity clubs
Any other appropriate tasks as required and agreed. Supporting with activities, reading, art etc.


The successful applicant will be: 

Female * due to personal care needs
Be reliable, a non-smoker, punctual, friendly, amenable, happy to work with a teenager, happy to lone work, trustworthy and willing to follow directions and procedures as per family’s instructions.
Able to empathise with a teenager losing her sight and affected by a rare condition. Happy to undergo training as required. Happy to work in a home with pets. Ideally have some knowledge about Tracheostomy and/or Diabetes care.
