Hourly Rate: £10.50 per hour

Hours/shifts: 2 Days per week, 8am-8pm but this is negotiable. Thursday & Friday Extra hours one weekend a month.

Summary

• Personal Assistant/Care Support Worker
• To support a young lady in her 30’s with cerebral palsy and epilepsy within the family home and out and about
• We are an easy going, happy, busy family that would love someone similar to support our daughter.
• Support would include, personal care, mealtimes, watching TV, driving an adapted car and support her with her day time activities
• Being happy to work as part of a team and also lone work whist out and about in the community and so that parents have the opportunity to go out in the evening
• You will need to be kind, caring and understanding as the days routine can change depending on her Seizure activity
• You will need to be happy to undergo other training as required – your time for this will be paid and any travel reimbursed.
Other Requirements

Description
Typical duties
Domestic -       
• Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
• Loading and unloading the washing machine
• Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
• Changing bed linen
• Bed making
• Keeping customer’s bedroom clean & tidy, including dusting and vacuuming.
• Cleaning and tidying the shower room after use
• Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
• Any other reasonable task

Personal Care: 
• Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
• Assistance with applying cream
• General hair/skin care
• Using the toilet
• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
• Getting into bed
• Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist
• Giving medications including rescue meds for epilepsy seizures once you have received full training
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed for the hot tub.
• Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
• Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
• Physiotherapy exercises
• Any other reasonable task

Social:   
• Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
• Accompany when accessing social and leisure activities if required
• Accompanying to doctors/hospital appointments when required
• Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.
• Occasional longer journeys
• Driving employers wheelchair accessible car, loading/unloading customer in wheelchair and securing ready for travel  training can be provided)
• Accompanying and supporting whist accessing daytime actives for example, shopping, visiting coffee shops and attending Scope day Centre
• Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with craft activities and hot tub
• Pushing the employer’s manual wheelchair when out.

The successful applicant will be:
• Female due to personal care needs

• Reliable with good time-keeping
• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Honest and cheerful and understanding
• Creative
• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
• Previous experience would be nice but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach is more valuable.
