Job Title: Female Personal Assistant

Hours/shifts: 8 hours over the weekend, can be flexible.

Summary 
Our daughter is happy and easy going. She likes to go out shopping and enjoys swimming, theatre and cinema trips and other activities. We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support her to maintain an active social life, and to help with personal care as required. She has Downs syndrome, ASD, is non-verbal and wears a pacemaker. This will be a rewarding role for the right person.

• Must be comfortable with pets
• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.

Description
Typical duties

Personal Care: 
• Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
• Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
• Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
• Using the toilet
• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed at swimming pool/gym.
• Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food.

Social: 
• Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
• Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including to swimming sessions

The successful applicant will be: 
• Female * due to personal care needs

• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
