Hours/shifts: A minimum of 100 hours per year consisting of holiday cover and sickness cover/short notice shifts. Hours to be worked between 07:00 and 15:00 as mutually agreed

Description
Typical duties

Domestic:
Meals: meal, drinks and snack preparation and support with meal time, including making refreshments for the client's guests.
Laundry: loading/unloading the washing machine; hanging washing out to dry/loading tumble dryer; ironing; putting laundry away; changing bed linen and bed making.
General housework: including cleaning; tidying; sweeping; mopping; dusting; taking out rubbish/compost; cleaning toilet.
Minor household maintenance.
Shopping and putting it away.
Correspondence: e.g. reading letters; help writing replies; form-filling; assisting with household paperwork; making phone calls on my behalf.

Personal Care:
Support to be independent: e.g. give reminders to wash/shower and wash hair. To be on call when client takes shower.
Assist with mobility: getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring'); lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car; pushing the clients manual wheelchair when out.
Support with health: help with dispensing tablets and ensuring medication is taken; support to do physiotherapy exercises; ensure 6 meals eaten per day with regular fluid.
Support with communication: break down tasks into small steps; accompanying client to doctors/hospital/therapy appointments when required.

Social:
Accompany to and during activities and appointments
Assisting client on shopping trips when required; accompanying when clothes-buying, including help lifting clothes on/off the rails.
Accompany client when accessing social and leisure activities and events, including swimming and horse activities.
Driving and accompanying to activities and occasional longer journeys:
e.g. library, garden centre, beach, the woods, disability groups or local visits,
to meet with friends and family.
The above duties will involve driving the client in the PA’s car.
Whilst on duty at the client ’s home using internet and assisting with craft activities.
Any other duties that can be reasonably expected.

The successful applicant will be:

Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to this roles.
