Job Title: Female Personal Assistant

Location:   Tarring, Worthing.         

Hourly rate:  £12.50 p/h nights

Hours/shifts: 10 hours waking nights – 2 nights a week




The work will be with a friendly family. The employer will be mum and you will be working with her teenage daughter who has Wolfram Syndrome and a Tracheostomy. Normally based within the home environment.  

The young lady can be shy at first until she gets to know you. Due to deterioration of sight, things need to be kept in their place and routines followed.

Available to start asap. 5.6 weeks paid holiday.


Your role will be to support the young lady by monitoring O2 Sats, suctioning when required, working with a Bi-PAP ventilator during the night, Trachy care and Personal care. Your shifts will be worked as waking nights and you will report any problems to the parents. Diarise all events. Comfort the young lady should she awake during the night. The young lady has Type 1 Diabetes which is normally well controlled, however on rare occasions she may wake requiring blood tests and the appropriate action taken. All training will be given and you must be prepared to attend training courses as required. We have 2 cats & a dog in the household which may require letting out.

Typical duties


changing bed linen if wet and put in washing machine along with wet nightclothes.


Light cleaning downstairs and general household tasks to include the wet room downstairs.


Personal Care: 

Helping to change incontinence pads

personal hygiene


Administering medication when required. Any other appropriate tasks as required and agreed. To help with bedtime routine when required.

The successful applicant will be: 

Female * due to personal care needs

Be reliable, a non-smoker, punctual, friendly, amenable, happy to work with a teenager, happy to lone work, trustworthy and willing to follow directions and procedures as per family’s instructions.

Able to empathise with a teenager losing her sight and affected by a rare condition. Happy to undergo training as required. Happy to work in a home with pets. Ideally have some knowledge about Tracheostomy and/or Diabetes care

Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard

Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom

Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
