Hours/shifts:  Fridays 12.15 – 12.45 & 14.00 – 16.30



Employer is Husband & main carer of a wife with Huntingtons Disease.


To care for lady patient with assistance from main carer who is also the husband.


To provide respite care for lady patient with assistance from family carer.


To assist patient with all aspects of daily personal care, including transfers, dressing, toileting & personal hygiene, preparing & feeding lunch.


 Other Requirements

  • "Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9."

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.



Typical duties



To tidy bathroom, bedroom & kitchen after use.


Personal Care

  • Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
  • Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
  • Assistance with applying cream
  • General hair/skin care
  • Using the toilet
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist
  • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat

 Person specification

The successful applicant will be: 

The successful applicant will be someone of a kind patient & caring nature able to communicate and work alongside the client’s family members, ideally with previous caring experience in all areas including hoisting & transfers, showering and dressing on a hospital bed with slide sheets and feeding.

  • Female * due to personal care needs
  • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good time-keeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
