I am a lady who has MS, who is looking for a kind and reliable Personal Assistant/ Support Worker to support me in my home. I enjoy socialising and crafts such as making greetings cards.

I am looking for somebody who can support me with personal care, a small amount of domestic support and somebody who will take my friendly dog for a walk. Somebody who has knowledge and experience of working with somebody who has MS would be preferred; however this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to this role. Any required training for this role will be provided.

Hours/Shifts: Tuesday to Friday, 9am - 12 pm & 5- 6pm

Other Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable with pets - dog
  • Must be happy to work in a smoking environment
  • Must have a UK driving licence
  • Must have access to own vehicle

Job Description

Nature of the work: Personal care, domestic support and social support for a lady who has MS Typical duties


  • Laundry
  • Loading and unloading the washing machine
  • Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
  • Changing bed linen
  • Bed making
  • General cleaning
  • Taking out rubbish
  • Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
  • Walking the dog
  • Making tea for the employer's guests

Personal Care:

  • Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
  • Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
  • General hair/skin care
  • Using the toilet
  • Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
  • Getting out of bed
  • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
  • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat


  • Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, make greetings cards, social room
  • The above duties will involve driving the employer in the PA’s car, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out.
  • Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with craft activities
  • Lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s manual wheelchair when out.

The successful applicant will be:

  • Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the work place

  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised

  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
