Job Title: Female* Personal Care Assistants

Hourly rate: £11-12 per hour

Reference: DP2374

Hours/shifts: 4-5 nights a week

1 Hour - hour and a half visit

Flexibility with these hours offered

  • I am looking for cheerful capable and reliable ladies to help me with my nightly going to bed, routine starting at 10-10.15 pm
  • I am physically disabled and have had muscular dystrophy for many years
  • I use a powered wheelchair to get around
  • I live with my husband in Lindfield and we are in our early 70s, we have a son, daughter andfour teenaged grandchildren
  • I enjoy being with family, meeting friends, eating out and other social activities
  • I like the theatre, cinema, art, reading, music, birds and gardens
  • I have a keen interest in people and current affairs
  • I am a sociable person who enjoys a good chat and enjoy the company of people who have a great sense of humor
  • An awareness of disability and experience of working with a disabled person would be useful but not essential
  • I employ other care assistants who will be available to guide you through my routine initially
  • I am able to ask for and explain the help I need

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

 

 

Description

Typical duties

Domestic -

Laundry, hanging out to dry, putting away

Loading and unloading the washing machine

Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line

General cleaning

Tidying and cleaning kitchen surfaces when required

Taking out rubbish

Preparing drinks

Filling hot water bottle

Opening and closing the windows when required

Locking of external doors when required

Any other reasonable to tasks required

 

Personal Care:

Assistance with applying cream when required

General hair/skin care

Undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings

Getting out of the wheelchair ('transferring') using powered mobile hoist

Positioning on commode over toilet.

Hoisting transfer from commode onto bed

Hanging, folding up clothes

Physiotherapy exercises

Positioning me in bed. Arranging bedclothes.

Assistance with meds

Putting Hoist and wheelchair on charge

May need additional help when poorly

Any other reasonable tasks when required

The successful applicant will be:

Female * due to personal care needs

Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality

Reliable with good time-keeping

Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative

Good at listening and carrying out tasks as directed

Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
