Summary

  • I am a friendly disabled person living in my own flat in Central Worthing.  I have a good sense of humour and I enjoy a good chat. 
  • I am looking for someone to assist me in my home and to help with domestic tasks and to assist me at tea time with my meal. 
  • I will need some support to transfer from my wheelchair into my recliner. 

Hours/Shifts

Monday 12-4pm – domestic tasks

Sunday 4.30-6.30pm

Must be happy to work in a smoking environment

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Description

I am a friendly disabled person living in my own flat in Central Worthing.  I have a good sense of humour and I enjoy a good chat. I am looking for someone to assist me in my home with some domestic tasks and assistance with my meal at tea time. I will need some support to transfer from my wheelchair into my recliner.

Nature of the work:

Supporting the employer to remain independent, to enable them to access the community and get out and about, providing companionship and assistance. 

Typical duties

Domestic -       

  • Support with preparing and eating food (usually heating a meal in the microwave)
  • Support with making and drinking hot/cold drinks
  • Tidying the kitchen after use
  • Cleaning the kitchen
  • Cleaning the bathroom
  • Vacuuming
  • Dusting
  • Assistance with laundry (hanging washing out)
  • Cleaning windows when required
  • Any other reasonable task

Personal Care:  

  • Support with eating
  • Occasional personal care
  • Any other reasonable task  

Person specification

  • Female* due to personal care needs
  • Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the work place
  • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good time-keeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
  • Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
