Summary

• Social & Domestic Support Assistant required
• Employer has Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoporosis which causes pain and affects her mobility. This condition also restricts the employers ability to carry out many daily living tasks
• Employer is easy going and kind natured
• Employer lives in her own home with her three children aged 14, 15 & 18 and an elderly cat
• She also has two small pet parrots that live in a cage in the corner of the sitting room
• Assistance is required to access the local community and attend social activities
• Support will also be required with general housework and occasional personal assistance such as hair washing, brushing, assistance with dressing/undressing, getting in and out of the bath
• Assistance to prepare meals and snacks to ensure employer maintains a balanced diet
• Employer can drive her own vehicle when she is not in too much pain
• Requires support to push wheelchair when pain is bad


Hours/Shifts

Mon-Fri 9am – 10.30am
7 hour per week basis.
Plus an additional 2 hours every 4 weeks as agreed with employer.

• Must be comfortable with pets- Client has two small but friendly Parrots and a cat.
• Must be happy to work in a smoking environment
• Must have a UK driving licence
• Must have access to own vehicle

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Job Description
Nature of the work:
Assist the client to access the local community, assist with domestic tasks within the home and assist with personal tasks as required

Typical duties:

Domestic -
Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
Changing bed linen
Bed making
General cleaning
Taking out rubbish
General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Tidying

Plus any other related tasks as required

Personal Care:
Assistance with hair washing, towelling dry/drying hair
Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
To be on call when employer takes bath/shower
Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings

Plus any other related tasks as required

Social:
Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips
Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities
Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required
Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.
Lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s manual wheelchair when out.

Must be willing to occasionally drive client in your own car in return for 35p per mile mileage.
