  • Looking for a  fun loving Female* personal care assistant with a sense of humour, a small amount of regular hours may be available initially, which could increase
  • This job is to support a young lady in her early 30s with Huntingtons disease to live independently 
  • You will support her to access the community to do all the things she loves, including swimming, horse riding, days out and enjoying the odd pub lunch so we are looking for someone who can help her enjoy life
  • There may also be a small amount of household tasks as and when required


Working on a 2-1 basis as bank staff initially – regular hours to be discussed at interview 

Other Requirements

Must be comfortable with pets2 dogs

Must have a UK driving licence – must be willing to drive the customers mobility car

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Typical duties

Domestic -   

  • General cleaning
  • Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
  • Shopping
  • Maintenance of small garden, perhaps half an hour a week
  • Tidying
  • Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork
  • Making phone calls on my behalf when I am too unwell to do this
  • Making tea for the employer's guests

Personal Care:   

  • Assistance with using the toilet 
  • Personal care will increase as time goes on as the disease progresses. 


  • Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
  • Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required
  • Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.
  • Occasional longer journeys
  • Driving and Accompanying on trips out e.g. swimming, horse riding, cinemas, shows any anything her heart desires
  • The above duties will involve driving the employer in their mobility car, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out. 

Person specification

The successful applicant will be: 

  • Female * due to personal care needs
  • Able to tolerate the family member smoking in the work place
  • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good time-keeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful and fun loving with a sense of humour
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
  • Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
