Job Title:  Female Support assistant

Location:   Angmering/North Chailey

Hourly rate:   £9 per hour

Hours/shifts: Monday 9-5 Thursday 9-5

Summary

Support required for a 22 year old woman with profound learning difficulties and epilepsy.

The role involves accompanying her to a day care facility with another support worker, support with assisted walking, swimming, wheelchair transfers, personal care, supporting with physiotherapy, and leisure activities including art, cooking  and IT.

An outgoing personality preferred.

Typical duties

Domestic -       

Tidying

 

Personal Care:

Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair

  • Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
  • Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
  • To be on call when employer takes bath
  • General hair/skin care
  • Using the toilet
  • Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
  • Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed at swimming pool/gym.
  • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
  • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
  • Physiotherapy exercises

Social:   

  • Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including to swimming.

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
