Work in social care Working as a Personal Assistant Female* Support Assistant HCC1459 Job Title: Female*Support Assistant Location: Fareham Hourly rate: £8.50 Reference: HCC1459 Hours/shifts: Thursday, Friday 3.00pm to 6pm. Occasional Saturdays, Sundays morning or afternoon, maybe all day. Summary Emily is 18, she has severe learning difficulties, is non-verbal and needs help with personal care. She is a sociable person with no behaviour issues and loves going out and about. Emily needs an assistant to pick her up from college in Fareham on a Thursday and Friday from 3pm and drop her at home at about 6pm, and for occasional mornings or afternoons at the weekend, and occupy her going to the shops, the cafe, the beach, the park, amusement arcade, the cinema etc. During this time she would need help with toiletting but no other personal care. The assistant should ideally drive and have a her own car in case of bad weather but Emily is very happy going on the bus or train. Other Requirements *Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9. Must have a UK driving licence Must have access to own vehicle All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Domestic - Personal Care: Using the toilet/Dressing & undressing / helping with buttons & fastenings/Helping with other aspects of personal care as required (i.e assisting getting changed at swimming pool)./Assistance at mealtimes: cutting up food / assistance to eat / drink/ Social: Accompanying and assisting on shopping trips/Accompanying during social and leisure activities/Accompanying on trips out/Driving and accompanying to social events / activities/ Person specification The successful applicant will be: Female * due to personal care needs Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality Reliable with good time-keeping Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills Honest and cheerful Creative Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
