Job Title: Female* Support Worker

Location: Andover           

Hourly rate: £9 per hour

Hours/shifts: 5 hours per week

Mon-Fri approx. 6 - 7 pm

 

Summary

  •  I am a friendly intelligent woman (early 50s) with fluctuating chronic illness/disability aiming to gain more independence. Looking for a Personal care assistant / support worker / carer to support me in the home, with an option to going out on trips
  • 5 hours a week, 6pm to 7pm approx Monday to Friday. Possibility of covering other carers hours when required
  • Location close to Andover town centre
  • Pay starts at £9.00 an hour with 5.6 weeks paid holiday a year, officially employed through Direct Payment scheme. 
  • No special skills required, you just need to be calm, caring and reliable. 
  • Must be DBS checked, able to provide references and eligible to work in UK.

Other Requirements

  • "Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9."

Description

Domestic -      

Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away

Helping with laundry, washing and drying

Loading and unloading the washing machine

Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line

Changing bed linen

Bed making

General cleaning

Taking out rubbish

General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.

Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing

Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.

Shopping

Tidying

Personal Care:  

Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair

Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required

Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required

To be on call when employer takes bath

Assistance with applying cream

General hair/skin care

Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets

Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed at swimming pool/gym

Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat

Physiotherapy exercises

Social:            

Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips if required

Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required

Pushing manual wheelchair when out

The successful applicant will be: 

  • Female due to personal care needs
  • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good time-keeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
