Summary • Female Support Workers required to assist an 85 year old lady with personal care, meal preparation and taking medication.• The lady has severe sight impairment, is partially deaf and has some difficulty with mobilizing.• Duties include assistance with showering/bathing, getting dressed/undressed, taking medication and meal/drink preparation. • You should be patient, friendly, reliable and trustworthy.• Experience in care work and supporting someone with visual/hearing impairments would be preferred.Other Requirements (please edit as appropriate)• "Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9." DescriptionTypical dutiesDomestic - Preparing meals/drinksLight housework e.g. cleaning/tidying kitchen and bathroom after use Personal Care: • Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair• Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required• To be on call when employer takes bath/shower• Support to get to toilet if required • Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings• Getting in/out of bed• Help with dispensing tablets • Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets• Assistance with cutting up food as required Social: • Occasional assistance with going out and about in the community Person specificationThe successful applicant will be: • Female* due to personal care needs • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality• Reliable with good time-keeping• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative• Hygienic and well organised• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties• Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills• Honest and cheerful• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & SafetyPrevious experience of care work and supporting someone with visual/hearing impairment would be preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to this role.
