  • I am an outgoing woman in my fifties with a disability living in my own home. I like swimming, carriage driving, lace making and painting. I enjoy going to social clubs and eating out.
  • It is important to me that my views and opinions are taken into account, and that I am encouraged to maintain as much independence and choice & control in my life as possible.
  • There will be times when the employer and her staff will need to contact you. This may be outside normal working hours, including bank holidays, evenings & weekends, in the event of sudden staff sickness or emergency situations. These instances will be added to time sheet at a minimum rate of 15 mins per call. The employee is required to keep records on an ‘on call’ sheet. 
  • The employer accepts that you will not always be contactable or in a position to assist and will have a designated back up.

Nature of the work:

To provide administration, financial and practical support, including personal care, to the disabled employer in accordance with employment law and good practice.

The main duties are to help the employer to manage her care staff/ team and daily tasks, inclusive of managing the working environment, health & safety & fire safety procedures. Some help outside of the home may be required on occasions. 

Typical duties

Typical Tasks will include:

  • Assist with all aspects of personal care including toileting, washing and dressing
  • Assist with giving medication
  • Making drinks and snacks for employer
  • Domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, washing up etc
  • Assist with post and letter writing. (Therefore, a good understanding of English is essential.)
  • Assist with some aspects of literacy, numeracy & IT skills
  • Familiarise yourself with the employers care plan and ensure that this is signed off as read and followed
  • On occasion, if needed, drive employer in her own vehicle to attend  social engagements or appointments.
  • To observe strict and complete confidentiality regarding information obtained during the course of duties.
  • To ensure good working relationships with colleagues.
  • To attend any meetings, training courses and supervision sessions as required.
  • Plus any other related duties that may arise
