Job Title: Live-In Personal Support Assistant
Location: Chichester
Hourly rate: £10 per hour for daily average of 10 hours
Reference: DP438
Hours/shifts: To live in on a two week on and two week off basis.

I am a charming 36 year old man and very sociable with good speech and a great sense of humour. I require help with all aspects of personal care due to having Cerebral Palsy and support with living independently. I am also use a wheelchair so a hoist is required for all transfers. My interests include Cars, Computers, Cinema and Music so it would be great if you could share some of these interests.

Other Requirements
• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.

• Must have a UK driving licence and be over 25yrs old for Insurance reasons

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Typical duties

Domestic -
Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
Helping with laundry, washing and drying
Loading and unloading the washing machine
Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
Changing bed linen
Bed making
General cleaning
Taking out rubbish
General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Minor household maintenance e.g changing light bulbs
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork on occasion.
Making phone calls on my behalf when I am too unwell to do this
Making tea for the employer's guests

Personal Care:
• Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
• Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required using a hoist
• To be on call when employer takes bath
• Assistance with applying cream
• General hair/skin care
• Using the toilet
• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
• Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist
• Help with dispensing tablets
• Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed at swimming pool/gym if required
• Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
• Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat

• Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
• Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including to swimming lessons, the gym.
• Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments. My mum usually takes me but this may be required if she is unable to come.
• Occasional longer journeys
• Accompanying on trips out e.g. to the library, the vet, meditation classes, to see family.
• Driving and accompanying to social events such as:
• Cinema
• Evening meetings
• Visiting friends and Family
• Accompanying on trips out eg to the garden centre, beach, cinema, craft fairs, local visits, out shopping for fun, attending social events, attending therapies and disability group as required.
• The above duties will involve driving the employer in the PA’s car, pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out. Alternatively, I would use my Power Chair
• Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with activities
• Lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s manual wheelchair when out.

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as long as you are willing to learn and enthusiastic.
