Independent Lives has been awarded an overall rating of ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the third time running.

In their assessment, the CQC rated the care service as ‘good’ in each of the three domains of safety, effectiveness, and leadership. This new rating follows an inspection of services in April 2021.

Jane Knight, Head of Care, said:

‘I’m once again delighted that we have received a rating of ‘good’ for the third consecutive inspection, because it reflects our passion for providing high quality care and support. We are always working tirelessly with our staff, customers, and partners to learn and improve. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in helping us to achieve this.

‘I am so proud to be a part of a team which consistently delivers such excellent care. I am also proud to work alongside colleagues who come to work every day of the year committed to helping others lead independent lives.’

During their inspection, the CQC found that customers were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives, and that staff supported them with kindness and compassion.

In their report, the CQC said:

‘People and relatives told us they could not praise the service highly enough. There were high levels of satisfaction amongst people and relatives who used the service, and everyone we spoke with said they would recommend the service to others.

‘There was a strong sense of leadership in the service that was open and inclusive, and… the staff team worked effectively together and were driven to provide the best care for people through good leadership and mentoring.’
