Seven Independent Lives superheroes completed the epic Superhero Series all-inclusive tri event at the idyllic Dorney Lake in Windsor on Saturday 16 August.
Wetsuits, bikes, capes and superpowers were in full action from Jack, Tyler, Emma, Steph, Cherry, Mike and Poppy who between them completed over 63km of activities before lunchtime. Pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and reaching new limits – shout out to Jack in his 750m swim (followed by a bike ride and run – phew), Emma in her 20km bike ride, Tyler in his 5km push and Poppy turning out on her 15th birthday to support the team with a 2.5km run!
Supported by a fantastic Sidekick crew, Cara, Catherine and Trustee Toby all shouting, cheering and being thoroughly wonderful keeping the team organised. Such a great day mingling amongst top celebrities including Clare Balding and Alex Brooker whilst not forgetting the all-important message of disability inclusivity and raising funds for our own much needed carers respite service minibus.
Donations are still very welcome from the summer event as we take a short pause before gearing up for two slightly chillier events planned later in the year. We have the ‘At home Winter Wonderwheels’ starting in November and then returning to Windsor again in December for the Superhero series ‘Winter Wonderwheels’.
