Nearly half of disabled people have seen their energy bills increase since the start of COVID and over a third have said energy costs have caused them concern or worry, according to a Opinium survey commissioned by Scope.

The survey also found that 86% of those who took part have had no contact with their energy provider about the increased costs.

To combat this, Scope has launched its Disability Energy Advice Service, which aims to work with disabled people and support them through these increased costs.

The service also gives disabled people free tailored advice on how to bring their energy costs down and how to best navigate their relationship with their energy supplier.

Appointments are over the telephone and will last no longer than 45 minutes.
