On Thursday 8 December, seven members of Independent Lives staff braved the elements and took part in a street collection in East Worthing alongside members of Worthing Lions.

Formed in 1952, Worthing Lions are a group of people whose mission is to make life better for others and over the last 32 years they’ve raised over £686,000 for good causes.

Independent Lives staff and members of Worthing Lions were joined by Santa Claus who took part in the festivities in his specially decorated Christmas van.

Independent Lives’ Fundraising Officer Cara Locke said everyone who volunteered was ‘Amazing’:

“It was our first time street collecting, so we weren’t really sure what to expect, but once we got into the swing of things, everyone gave it their all. I’m so thankful to everyone who volunteered their time”.

In total, we raised over £230, and every penny will go toward our vision of creating a fairer society where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
