If you’ve only just started receiving Direct Payments and you’re thinking about using them to employ your own staff, our ‘How to be an effective employer’ workshops are an excellent starting point. The workshop will help you to understand what your responsibilities are as an employer, how to successfully recruit support staff and how to deal with staff management. We also are pleased to announce a new support group for West Sussex Direct Payment customers. The support group aims to allow you to share information ideas with other Direct Payment users and to help increase your confidence and knowledge around Direct Payments. Reaching Families Summer Workshops Reaching Families is an organisation that helps to inform parents and families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in West Sussex. This summer, they’ll be holding their Training Roadshow workshops all over West Sussex on a variety of topics, including: Challenging Behaviour Bullying Transition to Secondary School Handling Stress and building Resilience and more. Hampshire SENDIASS provides information and support to Children & Young People with special education needs and disabilities. SENDIASS encompasses both Support4SEND (previously provided by Hampshire County Council), and Parent Voice (operated by The Rose Road Association). The service provides a single point of contact for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their parents and carers. Government Holds a Consultation on Changing Places toilets The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government are consulting on their plans to increase the provision of changing places toilets. They’re proposing making changing places toilets a mandatory requirement in all building regulations. To view the full consultation, please click here.
