Job Title: Personal Assistant

Hours/shifts: 2 PA’s needed for 16 hours per week. 4 days 4 hours shifts, ideally 12pm till 4pm. Can be flexible on days.
Summary:
My Adult son, loves his own space and being on his own, he needs help to break this habit. If he could, he would stay in his room all day.
My son needs a lot of encouragement to get out, but once out he likes to burn off some energy in the park and he also enjoys travelling by car.
My son loves all types of music, listening to it on his tablet (YouTube) and smart TV.
The needs my son has means he requires support in many aspects of his daily life to help keep him comfortable, safe and to encourage independence. This also includes going to the supermarket and some light shopping.
A PA who has experience and training with Autism is essential and preferably a driver with their own vehicle to go out and about. When out of the home PA support is needed on a 2:1 basis.

Other Requirements
• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.
• Must have a UK driving licence
• Must have access to own vehicle
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Description - Typical duties
Domestic
Assist and encourage to:
- Make his bed
- Put his dirty clothes in the washing basket
- Tidy his room
- Vacuum his room
- Prepare drinks, snacks and meals

Personal Care
Assist and encourage to:
- Wash and dry himself
- Choose his clothes
- Get dressed, helping with buttons and fastenings
- Occasionally and only if needed - to use the toilet and ensure he is clean
- Brush his teeth
- Mealtimes e.g. ensuring food isn’t too hot

Social
Assist to:
- Access the community and activities e.g. park, some ball games etc.
- Occasional longer journeys e.g. the beach
- Ensure he is safe at all times when out and near roads
- On bad weather days, inside activities e.g. drawing, painting, writing, cooking (all that is age appropriate but within his capability).
- Encourage independence by going to the supermarket and choosing some essential items to buy.
