Job Title: Personal Assistant
Location: South Norwood, off Portland Road.
Hourly rate: £10

Hours/shifts: Term time, Monday to Thursday 3.30 – 7.30
Start date: Ideally 19/04/21

My son is a young adult who has a happy and cheerful disposition with no challenging behaviour. He presents with Global Development Delay and Learning Difficulties and is non-verbal. He enjoys company of others, music, TV and being at home or outdoors; and has a good sense of humour.
This role is to support my son from when he returns home from school on school transport until his bedtime at 7pm.
Tasks will include:
- Helping him into the home from transport
- Assisting him to have a snack and drink
- Preparing his evening meal
- Showering him and helping him to change into night clothes
- Changing his pad and assisting with personal care
- Help him into bed and settle
- Prompting independence where possible and safe to do so.

Other Requirements

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Description - Typical duties

- Meal preparation (has a nut allergy so, no nuts)
- Tidying/cleaning the used areas including bathroom, kitchen etc.

Personal Care

Assist my son to:
- Wash/shower/bath and dry
- Un/dress ready for bed
- Comb his hair
- Brush his teeth
- Use the toilet and change continence aids regularly
- Take his medication
- Settle for the night
- Cut up food at mealtimes and assist with feeding (ensuring food isn’t too hot)

To talk and interact with my son while performing evening routines and tasks.

- Any other reasonable tasks requested.
- My adult daughter may also be at home during the shifts but she doesn’t require any assistance.

The successful applicant will be:

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
