Summary
I am seeking a highly empathetic and compassionate individual to join a small team of PAs to help me continue to live as independently as possible at my home in Forest Row. I would particularly like to hear from you if you feel you possess the unique set of gifts, skills and understanding to make a real difference to my wellbeing and sense of independence.

Previous PA experience is not essential, but the right set of values is. I’ve been living with my condition for 10 years and in that time I have learned a lot about myself and my needs. Importantly, I’ve learned that I can’t manage alone and that working closely with PAs has really helped me live day to day, not just survive.

A bit more about me: I am living with a rare neurological condition that has left me with a number of permanent disabilities, which include walking and balance problems, and chronic energy limitations. I’m a wheelchair user, largely homebound, often in bed, and limited when up and about. I also have a weakened immune system. Although I now need daily help and support, I like to think I meet life’s challenges with a positive attitude and a good sense of humour.

The job includes: cleaning, laundry and housekeeping, food and meal preparation and support with social and physical activities, mobility needs, healthcare needs (dropping off and collecting prescriptions), and admissions to hospital.

You must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check. You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks holiday (pro rata) and be issued with an employment contract.

Personal attributes:
• Professional
• motivated and flexible
• The ability to listen and learn with good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work on a one to one basis
• An understanding and receptive to the challenges and needs of those living with a long-term condition, including physical disabilities.

Special requirements:
• Receptive to infection prevention and control requirements (I have a weakened immune system).
• Non-smoker (for medical reasons).
• Own car, and current clean UK driving licence.

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives
