Sunday 10am to 4pm Summary My son is a happy child and loves dancing and eating. He is non-verbal but really enjoys socialising and being around chatty people as it helps encourage him to talk. We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support my son at home, it would really help if you had an animated personality as he really responds to this. DescriptionTypical duties Domestic -Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting awayHelping with laundry, washing and drying Loading and unloading the washing machineLoading and unloading tumble dryer/washing linePreparing drinks, snacks and meals. This includes cooking to his personal preference but following instructions as my son has specific dietary needsPreparing hot and cold drinksCleaning up after my son if he makes a mess e.g. the floorMaking and changing bed linenSupport with shopping Personal Care: • Support with bathing and washing hair • Administering oral Medication • Support with Brushing teeth • Changing his clothes or getting dressed • Skin and hair care • Cutting nails Social: • Promoting Self independence• Trampolining and other outdoor activities• Accompanying my son on walks around the block• Pushing him in his wheelchair Person specificationThe successful applicant will be: • To be chatty and have an animated personality• Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality• Reliable with good time-keeping• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties- This is due to you having to push my son’s wheelchair and him being very tall for his age. • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills• Honest and cheerful• Creative• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & SafetyPrevious experience is not needed as full training is given so just a willingness to learn Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives
