Job Title: Personal Assistant / Community Support Worker – one to one
Location: Burgess Hill, West Sussex
Hourly rate: £10.50 per hour

Hours/shifts: 6 hours per day, start and finish times to be agreed on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (18 hours per week)

Summary

The role is to support a young man with learning difficulties and autism, with activities such as horse riding, swimming and walking around parks and gardens, together with visits to Brighton and other local towns.
Previous experience of supporting someone with a disability is not essential as full training will be given but it is important that you enjoy helping others, are fit and active and have good interpersonal skills.

Other Requirements

• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.
• Must have a UK driving licence and be over 25 to go on the insurance policy for the Motability car

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and NEST pension and will be issued an employment contract initially for a 6 month fixed term contract.

Description
Typical duties
Offering the young man a choice of outings and activities. He enjoys walks in National Trust properties, Tilgate Park, Lewes, Arundel, Guildford, Horsham and the sea fronts at Littlehampton, Hove and Brighton including the Pier and Garden Centres.

Other favourites include Brighton and Crawley town centres where he will frequently point to show which shops he would like to go around. He enjoys sitting in premises such as Costa or Cafe Nero particularly in winter months.

Personal Care:
There is limited personal care, the young man requires some support in using the toilet and helping with outer clothing, or getting changed for horse riding or swimming.
