Job Title: Personal assistant

Location:  Burgess Hill          

Hourly rate: £10 per hour        

Reference: DP1041a            

Hours/shifts: 3 hours Tuesday, 5 hours Wednesday, 3 on a Thursday. 2 hours Saturday, 2 hours Sunday


  • Young married couple looking to employ a Personal assistant(s), so they can remain independent in their own home.
  • Tasks will involve;
  • Personal care
  • preparing meals
  • General domestic tasks including help with shopping and assisting to access the local community. It would preferable if you had manual handling training.


Other Requirements


  • UK driving licence preferable
  • Access to own vehicle preferable

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Domestic -      

Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away

Changing bed linen

Bed making

General cleaning

Taking out rubbish – separating rubbish & recycling

Light housework which may include cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.

Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing occasionally.

Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.



Any other reasonable tasks

Personal Care:  

Assistance with using the toilet on occasions

Assistance with dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings on occasions

Assistance with getting in & out of bed using a hoist or onto the shower chair or toilet on occasions

Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets

Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')

Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat

Physiotherapy exercises

Any other reasonable task

Community Living tasks:

Accompanying and assisting employers on shopping trips when required

Accompany employers when accessing social and leisure activities, such as going to a restaurant for lunch

Accompanying employers to doctors/hospital appointments when required, transferring onto dentist’s chair

Accompanying and assisting employers on occasional longer journeys eg to visit family members

Pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out.

The successful applicant will be:

  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
