Hours/shifts: Saturday and Sunday 1pm-3pm. Mornings 9-11 when needed. There may be additional hours available if covered is required, this could include: covering sickness and holiday cover.

Summary

• Young married couple looking to employ a personal assistant so they can remain independent in their own home.
• Tasks will involve personal care, preparing meals, general domestic tasks including help with shopping and accessing the local community.

Description


Typical duties
Domestic:
Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
Changing bed linen
Bed making
General cleaning
Taking out rubbish – separating rubbish & recycling
Light housework which may include cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing occasionally.
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Shopping
Tidying
Any other reasonable tasks

Personal Care:

Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat

When out in the community we may need support transferring when using the toilet.
Support with dressing and undressing when required
Occasional support needed with hoisting – manual handling and hoist will be provided.
Any other reasonable task

Evening Shift:
Dressing/ undressing ready for bed
Support/ assistance with oral hygiene

Social:
Support with going swimming-must be happy to accompany in the pool
Accompanying and assisting employers on shopping trips when required
Accompany employers when accessing social and leisure activities, such as going to a restaurant for lunch
Accompanying employers to doctors/hospital appointments when required, transferring onto dentist’s chair
Accompanying and assisting employers on occasional longer journeys eg to visit family members
Pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out.

The successful applicant will be:

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to this role.
