Summary

• Reliable, patient, hardworking Personal Assistant required for our lovely 23-year son.
• Some knowledge/understanding of autism and Down syndrome and own transport essential.
• Full time. Salary £12 per hour + 0.45p per mile travel allowance for trips out, 5 weeks holiday.
• PA duties include personal help, taking out on excursions to jacuzzi, parks, walks, bowling alley, beach, short holidays, occasional overnight stays to allow parents some respite.
• Would suit someone energetic, caring and someone who wants to have some fun.
• A Dr Who fan would be a bonus! We are based north of Haywards Heath.

Other Requirements
• Must be comfortable with pets
• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.

Description
Typical duties
Domestic:
Helping with laundry, washing, and drying
Occasional light cleaning duties
Loading and unloading the washing machine
Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
Changing bed linen
Bed making
Preparing drinks, snacks, and meals.
Shopping
Tidying

Personal Care:
Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
Assistance with applying cream
General hair/skin care
Using the toilet
Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed at swimming pool/gym.
Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat


Social:
Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities
Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required
Occasional longer journeys
Accompanying on trips out eg to the garden centre, beach, swimming pool/jacuzzi, bowling alley, local visits, out shopping for fun, attending social events, attending therapies and day centre
The above duties will involve driving the employer in the PA’s car

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common-sense approach to these roles.
