Direct Payments Working as a Personal Assistant Personal Assistant DP4679 Job Title: Personal AssistantLocation: Bognor Regis Hourly rate: £9.25 (Weekday) £12 (weekend) and £18 (bank holidays) Reference: DP4679 Hours/shifts: Tuesday Mornings 8:30 – 10:30am, Wednesday Mornings 7:30am – 9am and Thursday Mornings 8:30am – 10:30am (flexibility available but to be agreed by employer) – 5.5 hours a week. Possible holiday cover hours available when needed. Summary • I am a kind and caring gentleman looking for support to remain independent within my home.• I need support with meal preparation, general housework tasks and elements of personal care • I use an electric wheelchair to get around in my home. • I do have a mental health condition, this can cause me to be anxious and depressed. The successful applicant should be patient and empathetic and will understand that every day is different. • I have range of different interests, including: football, sport, wildlife and music. If you share any of these interests then this could be the role for you.• This is a rewarding role with a shadow trial session available. DescriptionTypical duties Domestic - General Household chores including: cleaning, dusting and vacuumingBed makingPut clothes into washing/drying and fold and put away clothesTake out rubbishPreparing drinks, snacks and meals.Shopping – going to local shop which is a three minute walk to get bread, milk and a newspaper when needed Personal Care: • Assist with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required• Help getting into and out of shower as required: • I transfer onto a shower chair and you will need to push me into the shower undress me, wash my back, dry and re dress me.• I need assistance with shaving• Assistance with applying cream• I need support to brush my teeth• Empty and clean urinal bottle in the mornings• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings• Help with dispensing tablets • Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets• Cut up food when required Person specificationThe successful applicant will be: • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality• Reliable with good time-keeping• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills• Honest and cheerful• Creative• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & SafetyPrevious experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
