Job Title: Personal Assistant

Hourly rate: £10 per hour

Hours/shifts: 11 hours a week school holidays
3 hours a week during term time (on a Saturday or Sunday)
1 overnight per month on a Saturday night from 8pm – 8am

Description


I am looking for a PA to look after my son, a 14 year old boy. He is happy, friendly and tactile and able bodied with severe learning difficulties but still able to communicate non-verbally.
He enjoys going out and about and accessing leisure activities. He likes music.
His dad will be your employer
Some aspects of personal care will be required on occasions. He requires constant supervision when out and about.
Sometimes his behaviour can be challenging.


Typical duties


Community Living Tasks:

Accompanying and supervising me on shopping trips when required
Accompany and supervising me when accessing social and leisure activities, including to swimming, soft play areas, park etc.
Accompanying and supervising me to doctors/hospital appointments when required
Accompanying and supervising me on occasional longer journeys such as going to the beach.
Accompanying and supervising me on any other trips out eg to the garden centre, going to farms.
Accompanying and supervising me to social meetings eg with friends, family
The above duties will involve driving the employer in the PA’s car for which mileage will be paid.

Personal Care:

Assistance when using the toilet and reminding me about personal hygiene
Assisting me with other aspects of personal care as required, for example helping me to get changed at the swimming pool.
Assistance at mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat


Other Tasks:

Thinking of new places to visit to keep me stimulated.
Ensuring my safety at all time
Encouraging me to use sign language or talk as appropriate

The successful applicant will be:

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
