Hours/shifts: Between 5-10 daytime hours per week available (as mutually agreed, flexibility essential)


I am a young, friendly and fun-loving female wheelchair user living in my own flat

I am looking for a patient person with a good sense of humour to support me in getting out and about, accessing the local community and attending appointments

I will need you to push me in my wheelchair as required and occasionally push a trolley when we go shopping, ensuring my safety at all times. Minimal support with personal care tasks will also be needed

Other Requirements 
• Must be comfortable with my cat
• Must be happy to work in a smoking environment
• Driver with access to own vehicle & a UK driving licence preferred, but not essential (Mileage expenses will be reimbursed)

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Typical duties

• Accompanying and assisting employer when meeting up with family & accessing social and leisure activities, such as visiting Cafes and eateries such as McDonalds
• Accompanying and assisting employer to doctors/hospital/medical appointments when required
• Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required, to include pushing a trolley and getting things from shelves
• Accompanying and assisting employer when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails
• Occasional longer journeys
• Pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out
• If you are a driver with access to your own car, the above duties will involve driving the employer in your own car, supporting her to get in/out of her wheelchair and the car and lifting a folding wheelchair in/out of car
• If you do not have your own vehicle, the above duties will involve using taxis or public transport, supporting the employer to get in/out of her wheelchair and the vehicles and lifting a folding wheelchair in/out of the vehicles
• Ensuring employer’s safety at all times
• Any other reasonable task whilst out and about

Domestic - 
• Occasionally preparing drinks, snacks and meals
• Occasionally wiping down kitchen sides
• Occasionally washing/drying up and loading dishwasher
• Any other reasonable household task

Personal Care: 
• Minimal support with personal care required when out and about to include:
• help with accessing the toilet facilities
• handwashing & drying
• occasionally dressing and undressing
• transferring from wheelchair
• ensuring employer’s safety at all times
• any other reasonable personal care tasks

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
